The Ballard High School Music and Drama Programs have gained regional, national, and international acclaim for their ensembles and performances. The Music Program includes over 300 students who participate in two concert bands, three concert choirs, two orchestras, percussion ensemble, two jazz bands, one jazz choir and multiple chamber ensembles. The Drama Program has over 90 students who partake in Theatre and Technical Theatre classes, and includes almost 200 students who participate in the three extra-curricular plays and musicals each season.
This year the Ballard Performing Arts students have some extraordinary opportunities. The Concert Choir and Advanced Women's Chorale have been invited to the Choirs of America Nationals in New York City at Carnege Hall. The Chamber Orchestra has been invited to The American String Teachers Association Nationals in Tampa, Florida. Fresh off last year's success at the 5th Ave Theatre Awards, the Ballard Playmakers are casting for the spring musical, Children of Eden.
To finish off the calendar year of 2015, the talented musicians at Ballard High will be staging two nights of winter music concerts; both nights feature the finale movement of Carmina Burana, performed by students from Symphonic Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Concert Choir, Advanced Women's Chorale, select Percussionists and select Wind Players. It will be an epic performance!

We have a day for giving thanks. We have two for getting deals. Now, we have #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. On Tuesday, December 1, 2015, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.
It’s a simple idea. Just find a way for your family, your community, your company or your organization to come together to give something more. Then tell everyone you can about how you are giving. Join us and be a part of a global celebration of a new tradition of generosity.
